My name is Hristina Blazevska. My family moved to the United States from Raotince, in the Tetovo region of Macedonia, in 1991. I was eight years old, entering the second grade, and knew only a few words of English.

Although many years have gone by since then, and I built a life here — in a new language, in a new country, the way so many of us do — my connection to my Macedonian heritage never faded. We all come from somewhere. We learn new languages, build new lives, raise our children in a multicultural world, in places our grandparents and great-grandparents never imagined. But heritage travels with us. It doesn’t get left behind at the border; it just finds new ways to live on.

I am Macedonian, my husband Filip is Bulgarian, and today we are raising our three children — Téa, Ivo, and Mila — whose lives center around family, faith, and community. Through the Macedonian Orthodox Church, they have participated in Sunday School, folklore dance, basketball, church events, and countless cultural celebrations.

For us, preserving our culture means continuing the traditions, values, and sense of belonging that were passed down to us — and making sure they remain meaningful no matter how many generations go by.

Origin 41|21 was created to carry those values forward. The coordinates 41° North, 21° East point to the heart of Macedonia, but Origin represents more than a place on a map. It represents the traditions, stories, values, and memories we carry with us wherever life takes us.
